Isotropy theorem for cosmological vector fields

چکیده
We consider homogeneous Abelian vector fields in an expanding universe. We find a mechanical analogy in which the system behaves as a particle moving in three dimensions under the action of a central potential. In the case of bounded and rapid evolution compared to the rate of expansion, we show—by making use of the virial theorem—that for an arbitrary potential and polarization pattern, the average energy-momentum tensor is always diagonal and isotropic despite the intrinsic anisotropic evolution of the vector field. For simple power-law potentials of the form V 1⁄4 ðA A Þn, the average equation of state is found to be w 1⁄4 ðn 1Þ=ðnþ 1Þ. This implies that vector coherent oscillations could act as natural dark matter or dark energy candidates. Finally, we show that under very general conditions, the average energy-momentum tensor of a rapidly evolving bounded vector field in any background geometry is always isotropic and has the perfect fluid form for any locally inertial observer.

Distributions of Fourier modes of cosmological density fields.
We discuss the probability distributions of Fourier modes of cosmological density fields using the central limit theorem as it applies to weighted integrals of random fields. It is shown that if the cosmological principle holds in a certain sense, i.e., the universe approaches homogeneity and isotropy sufficiently rapidly on very large scales, the one-point distribution of each Fourier mode of ...

We consider homogeneous non-Abelian vector fields with general potential terms in an expanding universe. We find a mechanical analogy with a system of N interacting particles (with N the dimension of the gauge group) moving in three dimensions under the action of a central potential. In the case of bounded and rapid evolution compared to the rate of expansion, we show by making use of a general...
متن کاملAccelerating Cosmologies with an Anisotropic Equation of State: Vector Fields, Modified Gravity and Astrophysical Constraints
We investigate cosmologies where the accelerated expansion of the Universe is driven by a field with an anisotropic equation of state. We model such scenarios within the Bianchi I framework, introducing two skewness parameters to quantify the deviation of pressure from isotropy. Several viable vector alternatives to the inflaton and quintessence scalar fields are found. We reconstruct a vector-...
متن کاملCosmological Magnetic Fields vs . CMB
I present a short review of the effects of a cosmological magnetic field on the CMB temperature and polarization anisotropies. Various possibilities for constraining the magnetic field amplitude are discussed. Cosmological primordial seed magnetic fields were proposed to explain the existence of observed ∼ 10 −6 G magnetic fields in galaxies and clusters (see, e.g., Widrow 2002, Gio-vaninni 200...
متن کاملInvariant random fields in vector bundles and application to cosmology∗
We develop the theory of invariant random fields in vector bundles. The spectral decomposition of an invariant random field in a homogeneous vector bundle generated by an induced representation of a compact connected Lie group G is obtained. We discuss an application to the theory of cosmic microwave background, where G = SO(3). A theorem about equivalence of two different groups of assumptions...
